Cases of an influenza A Virus H1N1* have been confirmed in a number of countries including the UK.
Authorities in Cumbria are maintaining vigilance and are liaising with the Health Protection Agency.
The Health Protection Agency is monitoring this situation closely and is working with the UK government to review the current incident and any threat it poses to UK public health.

* The same strain that causes seasonal flu outbreaks in humans, but the newly detected version contains genetic material from versions of flu which usually affect pigs and birds.
There has been a fire reported in a waste lorry on the Sellafield Site. The Site Fire Brigade attended and have extinguished the fire.
The site perimeter monitors have detected some radioactivity and a Sellafield Emergency has been declared. The Sellafield Site Emergency control centre has been set up and well rehearsed emergency procedures are being enacted. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
